SUMMARY
|
Dr. Kishik PARK was educated at Seoul National University, in the Rep. of Korea, where he obtained a first class honors degree of B.A. in 1982 and M.A. in 1984 respectively. And he got Ph.D. Degree in the field of Telecommunications Standardization Policy in 1995. In 2004, he acquired another Ph.D. Degree majoring in Internet QoS, Computer Science. Dr. Park has sufficient knowledge in Engineering as well as Administrative and Policy areas which are essential for the ITU TSB Director.
He has been working for ETRI for more than 20 years in various important fields such as Protocol Engineering Center, Info-Communications Technology Div., and Telecommunication Systems Div. Currently, he is working as Vice President of ETRI for IT Services Research Division.
He has also been actively involved in the ITU standardization activities such as CCITT SG XVIII, SG VII, SG XIII and ITU-T TSAG since mid-1980s. He is currently serving as the Chairman of SG3 of ITU-T after the 8 year Vice-Chairmanship of ITU TSAG together with its WP3 Chairmanship since 1996.
In addition, he has been leading other important standardization-related activities playing some key roles such as the Chairman of the 9th GSC meeting, Secretary General of Asia IT Ministers' Conference, an Advisory Board Member of ASTAP, a Member of the National Standards Committee, and Korean manager of W3C World Office for many years.
All of above experiences gave him opportunities to obtain not only deeper and wider understanding of practical info-communications technologies but also management skills. Furthermore, Dr. Park has extensive international standardization-related experiences in various standardization rules and procedural matters as well as substantial activities which are critically important to successfully carry out the role of the ITU TSB Director in the future.
