ICTs and Gender Mainstreaming track: Experience of young women and girls in STEM
TechGirls
Session 118
TechGirls: Global STEM Leaders
The session will be a virtual TechGirls panel session with the alumnae of the programme. Legacy International selected alumnae who are part of the Advisory Committee and have been excellent examples of the program. The workshop will be held in a virtual format through Zoom platform. There will be 7 panel speakers. The TechGirls alumnae who have been asked to participate and are excited to join include: Asmaa (2017, Morocco), Tayma (2017, Palestinian Territories), Ruhee (2020, USA), Yasmina (2020, Lebanon), Sevara (2019, Uzbekistan), Lara (2012, Palestinian Territories), Haoua (2016, Algeria).
The format for the event will be a welcome and introduction of TechGirls from myself (5 minutes), The general outline is that I will be moderating the panel (40 minutes) (I will be asking the questions and calling on each TechGirls) and then a 15 minute open Q&A from any attendees (again I'll moderate questions). They will each share brief answers (about 1 minute for each question) since we will have 7 of them on the call. I am having the girls prepare responses for the following questions:
Topics they will have each share individually:
Share name, city/country, year in TechGirls
Brief recap of TechGirl’s experience highlights and impact of the program on your life
What they've accomplished during the COVID-era to promote gender equality, tying that into Women’s History Month
Some International Women’s Month questions we will use if we have time- we may not have time for all of them to answer but they will prepare answers for these:
What does Women's History Month/International Women's Day mean to you?
Name a woman you look up to and why.
How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you?
