Dear EGTI Members!

We are truly amazed by the high level of contributions, the richness of the discussions and your unwavering engagement during the four days -- starting from the World Telecom/ICT Indicators Symposium to the very last minutes of the EGH and EGTI meetings. The expertise you shared, the challenging questions you raised made these events so excellent -- let me convey our big THANK YOU on behalf of the ITU statistics team!

Evidently, we could've continued the discussions at every session for many more hours. This is why we would like to invite you to keep this spirit alive and continue your active engagement with forwarding the measurement agenda -- so indicators can underpin evidence-based policies.

What are the next steps?
--> Make sure to visit the EGTI 2024 event website where you can find presentation slides, archived webcast and photos //1f8a81b9b0707b63-19211.webchannel-proxy.scarabresearch.com/itu-d/meetings/egti2024/,

--> You can review the EGTI Conclusion at the following link: //1f8a81b9b0707b63-19211.webchannel-proxy.scarabresearch.com/itu-d/meetings/egti2024/wp-content/uploads/sites/27/IPS/documents/20/15_ITU_EGH2024_EGTIconclusions_BernardBanda.pdf;
a meeting summary report will also be uploaded shortly;

--> Join the work of EGTI in 2025 as well[].
Potential topics flagged for future work:
- Development of the ICT Development Index (IDI) (as a joint subgroup with EGH);
- Submarine cables (raised in the forum)
- Network sharing (raised in the forum)
- Environmental/sustainability of ICT sector indicators
- Refinement of QoS / speed indicators
- Satellite-based broadband Internet indicators
- Middle-mile connectivity indicators (data centers, cloud computing, secure Internet servers, IXPs)
- OTT use indicators
- indicators on emerging technologies
You can indicate your intention to join a discussion topic (or a subgroup) in one of the items listed for future work (topics receiving sufficient support will be part of the 2025 Work Programme; subgroups need at least 10 engaged, active contributors while forum discussion topics serve to share experience and best practices). You can of course also indicate other topics of interest, we hope to keep the forum as a virtual space to continue the discussions we just started in Geneva.

--> Many of you showed interest in capacity building.
You can learn more about the FREE online courses on ITU statistics offered on the ITU Academy:
//1f8a81b9b0707b63-19211.webchannel-proxy.scarabresearch.com/en/ITU-D/Statistics/Pages/capacitydev/default.aspx
As part of the project on measuring Universal and Meaningful Connectivity, ITU is also organizing regional workshops that include a capacity building element; events were already organized in the Caribbean and CIS regions, upcoming events will cover the Arab Region, Asia-Pacific, Africa and Latin America. Stay tuned for official invitations.

--> You may express your interest in becoming a Vice Chair of EGTI (either here or in an email to indicators@itu.int);

Thank you once again for your commitment, have a safe return trip and look forward to meeting you in person or virtually very soon!

Best regards,
Daniel Vertesy, on behalf of the
