| Description | ITU WTDC 2014 specifically recognized the need to accord special consideration for least developed countries, small island developing states, including Pacific Island Countries, and landlocked developing countries under Asia Pacific Regional Initiative 1. The expected results specifically recognize the need to create appropriate national, sub regional and regional frameworks for cybersecurity and enhance skills in these areas. This project aims to strengthen the national cybersecurity incident response capability in the Pacific with special emphasis on establishment of Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT), Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) with national responsibility, building human and institutional capacity to address cyber threats and enhancing regional cooperation. | |

| Achievements |
1. To assess the readiness for national CIRT establishment for selected Pacific Island countries namely Tonga, Samoa, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu: Four (4) CIRT readiness assessment were conducted, and one (1) for each specific country: Tonga, Samoa, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu 2. To design and develop implementation plan for each national CIRT: Four (4) CIRT readiness assessment and training carried out to enable the development of an implementation plan, one (1) for each specific country: Tonga, Samoa, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu 3. To conduct an awareness and hands-on training workshops aimed at building and strengthening human capacity in cybersecurity related matters in general and CIRTs in particular: More than 200 participants enhanced their awareness and skills in the area of incident response (CIRT operations) and cybersecurity in general 4. To foster stronger coordination, collaboration and information sharing between CIRTS and other relevant players:
More than 70 organizations shared their experiences in the field of incident response and protection of critical information infrastructures 5. To undertake stocktaking of activities being undertaken in the selected countries by national, regional, and international organisations, and in the region in general; and Number of Cybersecurity Capacity Maturity Model (CMM) report: Four (4) CMM assessment were conducted, and one (1) for each specific country: Tonga, Samoa, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu |
