Description of the event
|
The Liberia Information Technology Students Union (LITSU) will host the “International Girls in ICT Day” on Thursday, April 28th, 2022, in collaboration with the Liberian government through the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) and the University of Liberia Department of Computer and Information Sciences with the theme “Girls Access and Safety in ICT.”The “International Girls in ICT Day” event aims to bring together brilliant minds under one roof and raise awareness for girls and young women to gain and embrace an understanding of the vast possibilities that ICT offers, dispel the myth that ICT is a “Male-oriented,” and provide some insights on how they can build a career in ICT while also assisting Liberia’s economic development through ICT.The lack of females in the ICT field has been widely discussed. This is a worldwide problem, not just one that affects developing countries like Liberia. Another issue that continues to expand the metaphorical digital divide is the disparity between male and female ICT employees in the workplace and Liberia as a whole.Furthermore, Liberia’s government has proposed a Pro-Impoverished agenda aimed at improving the lives of the disa
