Description of the event

Taking into consideration the unprecedented challenges caused by COVID-19, this year, the Information Technology Organization of Iran (ITO) decided to organize the celebration of Girls in ICT Day virtually and online. We believe that this is an opportunity to understand what role digital innovation can play in making new and practical things happen in a time of crisis.
Our goal is to motivate young girls in coding and to blow their minds to see the world in a different way, and give them valuable skills in life and eventually in the workforce to become tomorrow's technology leaders.
In the year 2019, Information Technology Organization (ITO) organized a Series of entrepreneurship events and boot camps in different schools and different cities of Iran. During the previous events, more than 2000 students contributed to the program, of which several groups selected to pitch their ideas on “Girls in ICT Day”.
The online event will consist of bellow activities:
1. An Opening Session with Feature Speaker Female students will listen to a feature speaker who will inspire and encourage them to pursue education and careers in STEAM.
2. A Panel Discussion or a meaningful effective dialogue with startup women entrepreneurs Hearing from role models that girls can relate to will be invaluable in sparking their interest in ICTs. Toward this goal, Information Technology Organization (ITO) will invite female ICT professionals through an interactive panel discussion to share their success stories and information about their career paths and personal life, and why they think ICTs are interesting.
3. Organizing workshops During the event, a series of workshops will be held to teach young girls to code and create their own applications. 4. Playing inspiring video clips online Playing inspirational video clips online for students to introduce the story of successful students, women business leaders and also introducing the Careers in ICT fields. 5. Competition ITO will hold a competition for the young girls to pick the best websites and application, and that is to encourage them to do their best.
