Solution - CARA Senior drivers, although experiencing an increasing number of age-related deficiencies, wish to remain independently mobile for a long period of time. In fact, driving a car is not only key to fulfilling daily needs, it effectively enables seniors to achieve a much higher quality of life. With CARA, supported by the EU AAL program, we aim at supporting seniors by letting them drive safely for a longer period of time and with a higher level of comfort. We create a platform in which different relevant services and tools are offered that are being created based on user-centric methodologies. These tools, CARA SelfTest, CARA MyCoach and CARA MyRoad can help increase drivers’ awareness of their own behavior, coach drivers based on objective data and approved tools and methods and help plan routes based on stress-avoidance. Furthermore, this platform and tools has the potential to work on other road users such as persons with disabilities and limitations, irrelevant to cause and age, novice or occasional drivers, etc. This would help reduce the impact from disabilities, independent of the cause, in order to maintain or increase the level of comfort and safety, and reduce the level of stress in everyday mobility.
