Mr. Joe Anokye is the Director General of the National Communications Authority (NCA) of Ghana, the regulator of the Communications space in Ghana. A Telecommunication Executive well vested in a wide range of Telecommunication Management, Telecommunication Networks and Cyber Security platforms in both public and private sector, he has over twenty-two (22) years hands-on technical and management experience across Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America.
Prior to his appointment as the Director General of the NCA, Mr. Anokye worked on several contracts at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, Maryland – USA as a Principal Telecommunications Engineer, where he supervised NASA’s Global Mission Routed Data Telecommunication Wide Area Network (WAN) technical team from January 1997 to February 2016.
Mr. Joe Anokye was appointed as Acting Director General of National Communications Authority by His Excellency President of the Republic of Ghana on 24th January, 2017 and confirmed by the Public Services Commission on 15th January, 2018. He is a member of the National Technical Committee overseeing the implementation of Ghana’s National Identity Card – Ghana Card.
He obtained his first degree in Geodetic Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) of Ghana and his MBA from the University of Maryland University College, USA. Mr. Anokye is a double Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE #6624 - emeritus), with specialization in Routing and Switching and Service Provider.
