Gabon to host world-leading symposium for
global ICT regulatory community
Geneva,
20
April, 2015 – Media
accreditation is open for ITU’s annual
Global Symposium for Regulators, the world’s pre-eminent
gathering of the global ICT regulatory community.
Taking place from 9-11 June in Libreville at the invitation of the Government of
Gabon, the symposium welcomes world-class speakers with a dynamic programme
focused around the hot topics challenging today’s ICT regulators.
It will be chaired by Mr Lin Mombo, President of the Autorité de Régulation des
communications Electroniques et des Postes (ARCEP), and hosted under the
Patronage of H.E. Mr Ali Bongo Ondimba, President of the Republic of Gabon.
The year’s programme includes compelling discussions and debates around:
-
‘mobile money’ – the emerging world of digital financial
services
-
the ‘Internet of Everything’ – challenges and opportunities
-
innovative strategies to promote digital inclusion and
e-accessibility
-
taxation and the digital economy
-
network-sharing business models
-
the impact of regulation on broadband uptake
-
investment strategies
-
interoperability in the digital ecosystem
The first two days of the symposium comprise the Global Regulators-Industry
Dialogue (GRID, 9-10 June), and are open to regulators, policy makers and
members of ITU’s Development Sector. The third day (11 June) is a closed session
open to regulators and policy makers only. The morning session on Tuesday 9
June is open to media, culminating in a press conference at the end of the
morning’s programme. A number of interesting pre-event sessions on 8 June
are also planned and open to media.
Journalists are encouraged to accredit now to attend this globally-recognized
symposium. Formal accreditation prior to the event is essential to gain access
to the venue. Accreditation will close on Friday 5 June and there will be no
