Abstract :

Summary
Access control plays a key role in ensuring safety and security of ITU's staff and business assets.
Almost all physical and logical entry points to ITU's premises and its information systems require access control to prevent unauthorized or inappropriate "right of entry".
The existing twenty-year-old access control infrastructure for ITU premises is obsolete, and does not provide any integration between physical access equipment and information technologies. Acute security vulnerabilities are placing the organization at considerable risk in the context of persons who can access ITU physical buildings and IT assets.
The aim of the project is to:
- enhance security and modernize access control for staff and delegates;
- increase efficiency by automating manual functions and establishing self-services; and
- promote ITU as the leading ICT agency in the UN System by implementing ITU standards to provide a cutting-edge identity management system.
