- The Disaster Connectivity Map (DCM) was used to assist with response efforts and determine connectivity gaps in Tonga during the underwater volcano eruption and subsequent tsunami in January 2022.
- National Emergency Telecommunication Plans (NETPs) were developed for Dominica, Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Vanuatu. ITU continued to support Ecuador, Fiji, Iraq, Kiribati, Malawi, Mongolia, Paraguay, Peru, Solomon Islands, St. Kitts and Nevis, the State of Palestine, and Tonga to develop NETPs.
- ITU is working closely with WMO to develop an action plan to support the UN initiative on Early Warning Systems for all. The ‘action plan’ on the initiative was presented by WMO during COP27, in Egypt in November.
- Members of the Emergency Telecommunications Roster were deployed to Nicaragua to support the country in their relief efforts following Hurricane Julia, delivering vital telecommunications equipment and training local teams on its use.
