Nicholas Oakeshott works as UNHCR as a Senior Policy Officer coordinating the implementation of the Digital Protection pillar of UNHCR’s Digital Transformation Strategy. He previously held posts working on digital identity, legal identity and statelessness in Headquarters and at the Regional Office in Bangkok. Prior to joining UNHCR he practised law and worked for a number of civil society organisations on asylum and statelessness in the UK and Europe. He also held visiting lectureships at City University, the University of Westminster and the University of Law in the UK. He has been awarded an MA in Modern History from Oxford University and an LLM in International Human Rights Law from Essex University (with Distinction), and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1998.
