ITU-T Study Group 20 Internet of Things, smart cities and communities
In 2023, ITU-T Study Group 20 developed 24 Recommendations and seven agreed texts and continued to work on the development of 104 standards and guidelines on IoT and SSC as well as big data, digital services, and digital health.

SG20 Meetings in 2023
ITU-T Study Group 20 is responsible for studies relating to Internet of Things (IoT) and its applications, and smart cities and communities (SC&C). This includes studies relating to big data aspects of IoT and SC&C, digital services for SC&C, and digital transformation relevant IoT and SC&C aspects.
In 2023, the group held two meetings:

New Regional Group for Asia Pacific
The group held its first meeting on 25–26 July 2023. The meeting had 121 participants from 15 countries.
At its first meeting the group agreed to focus on digital transformation of cities and rural areas, dissemination of emerging technologies such as blockchain, digital twin, AI, metaverse and IoT, promoting activities of SG20 and SG20RG-AP, and bridging the standardization gap.
Correspondence Group for Artificial intelligence of Things Activities (CG-AIoT)
The Correspondence Group for Artificial intelligence of Things Activities (CG-AIoT) concluded its activities with a publication of a Technical Paper on “Challenges of and Guidelines to Standardization on Artificial Intelligence of Things”.
