Giuseppe Ricagni
earned a degree in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science from the Politecnico di Milano in Milan, Italy in 1994. In Italtel S.p.A Corporate Research laboratories, he participated to several EU-funded research projects in the area of Intelligent Networks and Broadband Telecommunications as well as to several internal Systems Engineering and Planning activities. Starting from 1997 he led the Italtel representation in IETF, and later he was also active in 3GPP standards. During year 2000 he joined Nortel Networks where he took responsibility for technical supervision over key UMTS customers.
He has an extensive in-depth background in IP protocols and architectures, ATM, UMTS Core and RAN as well as wireline and wireless Service Architectures. He is currently Senior Architect, with global responsibility for UMTS R5 marketing, and also driving requirements for Nortel Networks IP RAN Architectures and Packet core innovation.
