Workshop on "Next Generation Networks" |
Geneva, 9-10 July 2003
Abstract
Mobility is now considered as a major feature in next generation networks. After introducing the basic concepts related to mobility management and nomadism, the presentation addresses the requirements to support nomadic users and defines which functions must be introduced in next generation network (both "fixed" and "mobile" networks), and which functions are optional, but required to provided enhanced services. The network added value in this context will be highlighted, in particular on user identification, user location management and on the VHE concept. The technical challenges raised by these requirements will be described and the presentation eventually underlines the needs on standardisation for mobility management.
