Phil Barker (Lotus Engineering)
Phil Barker has been in the
automotive industry for 20
years, predominantly in the
field of vehicle and chassis
engineering, but for the
last 6 years has worked with
hybrid and electric vehicle
technologies at Lotus
Engineering. In response to
the increasing amount of
consultancy work undertaken
by Lotus Engineering in this
field, he holds the position
of Chief Engineer.
His expertise lies in the
vehicle integration and
feasibility of hybrid and
electric technologies into
existing and all-new
platforms and he also has
experience in the creation
of vehicle concepts using
present and future

 Ashweeni Kumar Beeharee (University College London)
Ashweeni Beeharee graduated with an Engineering degree from
BIT (Mesra). He has an MSc and a PhD in Computer Science
from the University of Manchester. He has worked as Lecturer
at the University of Mauritius (1996-1998), Director of
Globo Consulting (2000-2005) and Chief Technical
Officer/Co-Founder of Matchtooth Ltd (2008-2009). He has
equally undertaken several projects in mobile technologies,
virtual reality, augmented reality, navigation and is
currently involved in the multi-million EU funded ITS
project SafeTRIP. He is a BCS member, member of the UK
delegation for ITU-T and contributing to ITU-T SG 16. |
Gilles Bernard (Electricit� de France (EDF))
Gilles BERNARD is in charge of innovative development within
the Distribution Network Operator ERDF, a fully owned
subsidiary of EDF, where he has more than 25 years
experience of expertise and management in energy
distribution systems. He is specially implied in the French
development plan of EVs, being in particular chairman of the

Jim Bridgwater (Freescale Semiconductors)
Jim Bridgwater is marketing manager for the global
Driver Information Systems market, as part of
Freescale’s Automotive marketing team. He is responsible
for market strategy and analysis of the Automotive
Infotainment and Instrument Cluster markets, mainly
focusing on 32-bit microprocessors. During his 16 years
at Freescale, Jim has been involved in marketing
Microprocessors, DSPs and Radio Frequency solutions for
industrial and consumer applications. Previously he was
a Systems Engineer at Texas Instruments.
Mr. Bridgwater received a B.Sc. degree in Electronics
from the University of Manchester Institute of Science
and Technology in the U.K.
Mr. Bridgwater is a co-author of several system bus
architecture patents relating to power saving, and has
written articles on Infotainment, Graphics, Mobile TV
and Wireless communications. |
 Marc Brogle
(SAP Research)
Dr.
Marc Brogle is a Senior Researcher at SAP Research in Z�rich,
Switzerland. Marc is responsible for the area of “Intelligent
Transport Systems” (ITS) identifying new research topics and
relevant trends as well as acquiring new research opportunities.
He is the project lead at SAP for the EU FP7 STREP “ELVIRE”
focusing on research facilitating better ICT support for drivers
of electrical vehicles, the EU FP7 IP “DRIVE C2X” fostering
Vehicle-to-Business (V2B) communication, and the EU FP7 IP
“GEYSERS” researching the next generation of cloud computing
with enhanced optical network support.
His current research interests cover V2B communication and
related business models, future trends and solutions in the
electric mobility domain, as well as
Infrastructure/Software/Platform as a Service (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS).
He regularly serves as co-chair, reviewer and expert for
scientific conferences and is also a member of the ERCIM
eMobility working group. In 2009, he received the
“Communications Software Award” from the KuVS subchapter of the
German Informatics society.
Marc has been performing research on networking related topics
for many years and has profound knowledge in network and system
design as well as in developing distributed applications and
systems. He holds a PhD and Master degree in Computer Science
from the University of Bern, Switzerland.

Wai Chen (Telcordia Technologies)
Wai Chen received his B.S.E.E.
degree from Zhejiang University; M.S.E.E., M.Phil., and
Ph.D. degrees from Columbia University in the City of
New York. Currently, he is a Director and Chief
Scientist at Applied Research, Telcordia Technologies
Inc. (formerly known as Bellcore). Dr. Chen has been
leading a vehicular communications research program in
collaboration with a major automaker, since 2000, on
automotive networking technologies for vehicle safety
and information applications. He was Principal
Investigator of several government funded projects on
advanced networking technologies research. Dr. Chen is
the Series Editor for Automotive Networking –
Technology, Design, and Applications of the IEEE
Communications Magazine (since 2008), a Guest Editor for
Special Issue on Vehicular Communications and Networks
for the IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications
(IEEE JSAC, 2011), and the General Co-Chair for the IEEE
Vehicular Networking Conference (IEEE VNC 2010, IEEE VNC
2009). He has also served as a Guest Editor for Special
Issue on Inter Vehicular Communication (IVC) for the
IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine (2006), the IEEE
Distinguished Lecturer (2004-2006), the Co-Chair for

Ignacio Dizy (Telef�nica Spain)
BSc Computer Science and Psychology .Texas State

Ignacio Dizy works at the commercial direction for
Technology and Mobility Sector for Corporate Clients at
Telef�nica Spain promoting ICT innovation initiatives among
clients and the Telef�nica’s technical and research
organizations. He proposes mid-term new business models and
ICT services to be closely developed with clients. He is
Co-leader along with Corporate Climate Change Office of the
Telef�nica’s Electric Vehicle Task Force.
He started his career at CIMM’s Research Center and Automind
as a Knowledge Engineer developing expert systems, and then
he directed the research center’s ICT Department. Five years
later, he became ICT and Business Process Development
consultant. He enrolled in Telef�nica�s year 2000 project
certifying products and services of Telef�nica Sistemas.
When finished with it, Ignacio coordinated and executed many
mobile and fixed process development projects in the Telecom
Sector Professional Services Department in Telef�nica mobile
Solution. From 2006, he has been coordinating ITC projects
and services for Telef�nica Corporate Clients. |
Bernard Dugerdil, Freescale Semiconductor, Inc.
Bernard Dugerdil is working in the Telecommunication Industry for more than 30 years and is currently responsible to Coordinate Standards within Freescale Semiconductor (Freescale became a publicly traded company in July 2004 after more than 50 years as part of Motorola, Inc).
Bernard is involved in Standards for more than 15 years. He is part of Broadband Forum Technical committee leadership team (and one of the founder of DSL Forum), member of HGI (Home Gateway Initiative) Board of Director and member of ETSI Board of Director.
Bernard is an active participant to ITU-T and first contact for Freescale Semiconductor.
Bernard is currently involved in the ETSI ITS (Intelligent Transport System) TC (Technical Committee) and in the M2M (Machine to Machine) TC.
Bernard is part of ITU-T “The Fully Networked Car” workshop steering committee.

 Nour-Eddin El Faouzi (NEARCTIS, INRETS)
Dr. Nour-Eddin EL Faouzi is a research Director and chair of
Transport and Traffic Engineering Laboratory (LICIT), a
joint Research Unit of IFSTTAR (French institute of science
and technology for transport, development and networks) and
ENTPE – the post-graduate school of sustainable development
and Public Works). He is also member of coordination team of
NoE NEARCTIS.
He received his PhD in Applied Mathematics and Statistics
from Montpellier University in 1992 and Habilitation in
2008. Dr. EL FAOUZI has done extensive research in areas of
traffic management and data fusion with strong emphasis on
ITS applications. He is also member of NoE NEARCTIS.

 Guy Fr�mont (Sanef)
Guy Fr�mont holds a master in electrical engineering from
the Ecole Sup�rieure d’Electricit� (SUPELEC), of Paris, in
1982. He also holds a degree in Economics from the
University of Paris / Panth�on-Sorbonne.
He spent the first 10 years of his career in the aerospace
and defence industry, designing and developing radio
navigation and guidance systems for the civil aviation and
military engines.
In 1992 he joined the toll motorway sector, where he took
various positions as R&D manager and Projects manager,
coordinating and managing the development and implementation
of tolling systems, traffic management and travellers’
information systems.
He works with Sanef since July 2007, where, as Innovative
Solutions Manager, he is in charge of preparing and managing
important research projects, coordinating the technological
follow up of ITS products and services and supporting
tolling systems development. |
Hans-Georg Frischkorn (Director for Technology and Environment, Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA) = German Association of the Automotive Industry)
Hans-Georg Frischkorn has joined Verband der Automobilindustrie e. V. (VDA) in May 2010
as Managing Director responsible for technology and environmental affairs.
Prior to that he worked for General Motors in Europe as Executive Director Vehicle
Electrification. He had joined General Motors in April 2006 as Executive Director of Global
Electrical Systems, Controls and Software. He was responsible for design, engineering and
release of electrical systems, controls, and vehicle software, enabling the operation of
functions on all GM vehicles globally, including designing the global electrical architectures.
Previously he was Senior Vice President of Architecture and Systems Integration at BMW
AG, where he had responsibility for electronics and software systems in all vehicle domains
in pre- and series development.
In 1997 he began his career at BMW as Vice President of In-House Consulting in
Development. He was responsible for the re-design of the product development process,
including implementation of virtual methods, test and validation strategy, as well as launch
readiness and quality. From 1999 to 2001 he was the project leader of the Z4 vehicle
program.
Prior to his work at BMW, Hans-Georg Frischkorn spent 2 years at McKinsey & Company.
He began his career in 1978 with IBM Germany, working his way through positions in
Product Development, Systems Engineering, Business Development and IBM Management
Consulting.

Chanan Gabay (Better Place)
Dr. Gabay received his Ph.D. in Engineering, Applied Mechanics from the Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, NY.
M.Sc. in Fracture Mechanics, from the Tel-Aviv University, IL and B.Sc. in Materials Engineering from the Ben-Gurion University, ISRAEL.

Hans W. Gierlich (HEAD acoustics GmbH)
Dr.-Ing. H. W. Gierlich started
his professional career in 1983 at the Institute for
Communication Engineering at RWTH, Aachen. In 1988
February he received a Ph. D. in electrical engineering.
In 1989 he joined HEAD acoustics Inc. in Aachen as vice
president. Since 1999 he is head of the HEAD acoustics
telecom division.
He is mainly involved in acoustics, speech signal
processing and its perceptual effects, QOS & QOE topics,
measurement technology and speech transmission quality.
He is active in ITU-T, ETSI, 3GPP, GCF, IEEE, TIA, CTIA,
DKE and VDA and vice chair of the ETSI technical
committee STQ and chair of the ITU-T focus group CarCom.
He is author of more than 150 scientific papers and
holds five patents. He is member of ASA, IEEE, VDE and
DEGA where he was chair of the “Speech Communication”
committee from 2003 until March 2009. |
S�bastien Grazzini (Eutelsat)
S�bastien holds a master degree in Computer Science from
the EFREI French engineering school. He joined Eutelsat
Innovation team in 2002, and subsequently managed
Eutelsat activities within European project Mowgly, aims
to provide internet access onboard of trains and
aircrafts. He is currently involved in the S-Band
project activities including the on-going
standardisation process (DVB-SH, E-SSA) and he is the
technical director of the Safetrip.eu project funded by
the EC.

Denis Griot
(Freescale Semiconductor)
Denis Griot’s career in the
semiconductor industry spans more than thirty years.
With master degrees in solid-state physics and nuclear
physics, he started his business career at Philips.
He is most known for his twenty five year tenure at
Motorola Semiconductor, now Freescale, in
responsibilities ranging from Manufacturing to Business
Operations to Region Management.
As the Freescale Semiconductor Global Lead for the
Automotive Market, Denis Griot developed an important
network of relationships with the automotive suppliers
as well the car manufacturers.
He is now Chairman Emeritus for Freescale EMEA and
senior advisor to the Chairman and CEO of Freescale, and
member of the board of two high technology start ups. |
Kerry Johnson (QNX Software Systems)
Kerry Johnson has over two decades’ experience as a software design manager, product manager, and project manager in companies such as Nortel, CrossKeys, and Research In Motion (RIM). He currently works as an automotive product manager at QNX Software Systems, where he is responsible for product roadmaps and introducing new technology to the market.

Fotis Karamitsos (Director, Directorate General Mobility and Transport, The European Commission)
Director
Mr Karamitsos is Director within the Directorate General
for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) of the European
Commission.
His Directorate is responsible for the development and
follow-up of the implementation of Maritime transport
policy, maritime safety and maritime security and
environmental protection, as well as inland waterway
transport.
Recently he has also been responsible for the setting up
the European Satellite Navigation System GALILEO as
regards policy, infrastructure and applications, and for
setting the Regulatory framework for the Intelligent
Transport Systems.
He is with the European Commission for over 30 years,
where he has worked on various Transport issues, as well
on Telecommunications, Information society, Environment,
Tourism and Research and Development.
Before joining the Commission he worked with the World
Health Organisation's programme on Greater Athens
Pollution Control and on the Greek Academic and Public
Sectors.
He holds degrees in Civil Engineering and Transportation
planning from the Technical University of Athens and
from Leeds University. |
Pat Kennedy (Cellport Systems)
Pat Kennedy is the CEO of Cellport Systems, Boulder,
Colorado. Mr Kennedy has 14 patents and develops advanced
telematics connectivity architectures at the company. He has
a BA in international economics from the University of
Buffalo. He is a board member of the Center for Human
Capital and the author of IdeaJacked: An Entrepreneur’s
Story of Innovation and Treacherous Competition in Global

Helen K�pman (Deputy Head of Unit “ICT for Transport”, The European Commission), Directorate-General Information Society and Media (INFSO)
Ms Helen K�pman is currently holding the position of
Deputy Head of Unit, ICT for Transport, at the European
Commission, Directorate-General Information Society and
Media, in Brussels, Belgium. She has a M.Sc. in Applied
Physics and Electrical Engineering, University of
Link�ping, Institute of Technology, Sweden.
The unit's main responsibility is planning and managing
Community supported research in the area of Information
and Communications Technologies applied to
transportation and mobility, as well as managing the
highly successful joint industry - public sector eSafety
initiative. The research actions of the unit cover
safety, energy efficiency, logistics and mobility.
Ms K�pman joined the European Commission in 2003 as
Planning and Programming Officer, in the management of
the international dimension of the Framework Programmes
for Research and Technological Development.
Ms. K�pman has a thorough industrial experience, and has
worked in the management for ICT service development in
various international companies that include Infonet,
AT&T Unisource and Cap Gemini. |
Timo Kosch (BMW Group)
Timo Kosch is currently a team manager for BMW Group
Research and Technology. He is responsible for projects on
distributed systems, including research topics like
cooperative systems for traffic efficiency and active
safety, connected vehicle infrastructures and automotive
security. He has contributed to a number of national and
international research programs, e.g. as Coordinator for the
European project COMeSafety, head of system development for
the German Car2X field trial and chair of the architecture
working group for the Car-to-Car Communication Consortium
for which he is now serving as a Steering Committee member.
He has published several scientific and technical articles
and has supported the organisation of a number of scientific
workshops and conferences. |
Enno Liess, IEC Vice- President, on behalf of World Standards Cooperation (ITU, ISO, IEC)
Mr Liess began his term as IEC Vice-President on 1 October
2007 with special responsibility for establishing the Market
Strategy Board (MSB). An electrical engineering graduate
with a long international military career, in 1992 he joined
DKE, the German Commission for Electrical, Electronic &
Information Technologies (and German National Committee of
the IEC), becoming its Managing Director in 1997 and also
serving as Secretary of the NC. From 2001 to 2006 he was
Chief Executive of VDE, the parent association for DKE, and
has additionally chaired the Board of EUREL, the Convention
of National Societies of Electrical Engineers of Europe. |

Samuel Loyson (Marketing Director, Orange)
I studied engineering at french Ecole Polytechnique with
a specialization in Information Technologies, completed
with marketing and business training at EM Lyon.
I joined Orange-France Telecom R&D branch in 2000,
working on speech processing and natural dialog
technologies. Held several positions there and finally
managed the firsts operational deployments projects for
large banking accounts and Orange customer services IVR.
In 2006, I joined Orange strategic marketing to work on
Group product roadmap and manage innovation transfer
process.
In 2008, took over the role of marketing director,
connected car and transportation, where my role to make
the "connected car" vision a reality and position Orange

Pierre Malaterre (4iCOM)
Pierre Malaterre was Vehicle System Electronic Manager
within a French car manufacturer. He is an Electronics
Engineer (ESME) since 1967 and received his Doctorate in
Electrochemistry in 1970.
He began his career in the Digital Telecommunications
business as a Technical Manager. Following that, he
worked in Automotive Electronics for an equipment
manufacturer.
During last 15 years, he has worked in Car company
participating in the company's electronics strategy. He
has been member, at steering committee level, of several
groups: ISO, AMIC, OSEK...."
He is now retired and senior consultant in 4Icom, where
he brings his knowledge in Automotive electronic
technique and world. |
 Kevin McKinley (International Organization for Standardization (ISO))
Deputy Secretary-General of the International Organization
for Standardization (ISO) since 2003. Based in Geneva
Switzerland, ISO is the leading international
non-governmental standardization organization comprising a
network of national institutes from 163 countries and with a
collection of more than 18'000 published standards
addressing key global challenges in such areas as
healthcare, public safety, information technology, services,
climate change, energy, security and the social
responsibility of organizations.
Served three years as a Director at the Standards Council of
Canada, a Crown Corporation responsible for Canada's
National Standards System. Previously held posts at the
Canadian Standards Association, Canada's largest standards
development organization and addressed national
standardization issues in business management and worker
safety.
Professional career started in 1988 in the oil and gas
industry at Esso Petroleum Canada serving as a Construction
Project Engineer and later as the Contact Engineer
supporting Esso's environmental operations at Sarnia
Refinery in Ontario, Canada.
Studied in Canada with a Bachelor of Science in 1985 from
the University of Ottawa and a Mechanical Engineering degree
from Queens University in Kingston, Ontario. |
Arnaud de Meulemeester (ATX Group)
Arnaud de Meulemeester has more than 20 years of
experience within the automotive industry. He was
previously with PSA Peugeot Citro�n, where he held
leadership roles within its IT, Product Planning and
Telematics organizations. In his last five years at PSA,
he was responsible for its Services and Telematics
groups, where he deployed telematics-based emergency and
traffic services, and fleet management applications
within nine countries in Western Europe.
He has been managing director of ATX's operations in
Europe since joining in 2008.
De Meulemeester holds an engineering degree from “Ecole
des Mines de Saint Etienne” and his post-graduate degree
at ISIA, �cole des Mines de Paris. |
Eva Molnar (Director of Transport Division, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE))
Since September, 2007, she has been the Director of
Transport Division at the United Nations Economic
Commission (UNECE) for Europe.
She has spent more than twenty years of her career in
transportation, and from time to time also in other
infrastructure sectors, like telecommunications. She has
gained experience in governmental, private sector and
inter-governmental organizations, as well as in the
academic life.
Before joining the UNECE, she was on a sabbatical and
lectured at the Budapest University of Technology and
Economics, in the Transport Economics Faculty. Before
that she spent 8 years in the World Bank and as Sector
Manager for Transport in the Europe and Central Asia
region where she supervised transport investment
projects, a variety of analytical work, as well
contributed to different Bank publications. While
working for the Hungarian Ministry of Transport
(1984-1994), as Director General for International
Affairs(1990-1994), Ms. Molnar was in charge of
negotiating bilateral and multilateral agreements (road
transport, civil aviation, inland navigation, railways
etc.); she supervised Hungary’s accession to various
organizations and legal instruments, such as ECMT, CEPT,
ECAC, EUROCONTROL, EUTELSAT and INTELSAT. She also
served as the Hungarian Member of the Committee of
Deputies of ECMT/OECD. In between her work as a civil
servant and university lecturer, Ms. Molnar founded and
ran a consulting company called Infraconsult
(1995-1998). The company was engaged in various
feasibility studies and research programmes related to
transport and other infrastructure sectors, and
prepared, among other things, a comprehensive draft of
EU integration and accession strategy in transport and
telecommunication. At different times of her career she
was the CEO of a Hungarian road transport company KAPOS
VOLAN; she was a member of the supervisory board of
Raaberbahn, a joint Hungarian-Austrian railway operator;
and she was a member of the supervisory board of other
road transport enterprises. She used to be the marketing
director of the joint management training program
organised by the Budapest University of Economics and
the Indiana University (US). |
Marc Osajda (Freescale Semiconductors)
Marc Osajda is Global Automotive
Marketing Manager for Freescale Semiconductor in Munich,
Germany. He is responsible for market strategy and
analysis of the automotive semiconductor market.
Marc joined Motorola's European semiconductor business,
now Freescale, in 1992 as a design engineer. From 1995
to 2004, Marc was involved with the European Automotive
industry, respectively as application engineer,
Marketing Engineer and Program Manager
In 2005 Marc moved to Munich and joined the Automotive
Global Sales & Marketing organization. He is now in
charge of global automotive Marketing.
Marc holds several patents in the field of automotive
sensors and has published numerous articles on
automotive electronics.
Marc holds an engineering degree in mechanics and
electronics from the French “Ecole Nationale Superieure
d’Arts et Metiers” (ENSAM) in Paris.

Paolo Pagano (National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT) Research Unit, Pisa)
PAOLO PAGANO received his M.S. degree in Physics in 1999
from Trieste University (I). In 2003 he received his
Ph.D. degree in High Energy Physics from Trieste
University having worked for the COMPASS collaboration
at CERN (CH). In 2004 he was hired by HISKP at Bonn
University (D). In 2006 he received a Master in Computer
Science from Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa (I). In
the same year he joined the REal-TIme System (RETIS)
laboratory of the Scuola. From 2009 he is with the CNIT
(National Inter-University Consortium for
Telecommunications). He is leading the Real-time
Wireless Networks team at Sant'Anna University in Pisa.
His research activities have a specific focus on
Wireless Sensor Networks applied to traffic monitoring.
He is the spokesperson of the IPERMOB project
(http://www.ipermob.org) funded by the Tuscan executive
board within the POR CREO 2007-2013 framework program.
He co-authored about 50 peer reviewed papers to

Jean-Charles Pandazis (ERTICO)
Jean-Charles Pandazis holds a Master degree in
Electrical Engineering from the EPFL in Lausanne and
from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.
He built his career at Bosch Corporate Research in the
field of Driver Assistance. Seconded by Bosch to ERTICO
from 1996 to 2003, he developed a “shared vision for ITS
in Europe 20 years ahead”, then developed and led EC
research projects related to map databases and driver
assistance, in particular EVIDENCE and NextMAP, he also
initiated the AGORA, ActMAP and MAPS&ADAS projects. He
was the first coordinator of the industry-driven forum
ADASIS.
In 2009, he joined ERTICO (www.ertico.com), as Head of
Sector EcoMobility, including ITS for ElectroMobility.
Currently he is the coordinator of the EC Integrated
Project eCoMove (www.eCoMove-project.eu). |
George Paterson (Axeon)
Born in 1965 in Fife, Scotland. Studied Mechanical and
Production Engineering at college for 3 years and worked as
Senior Design Engineering with a lighting company for 17
years. In 1999 I left to join Axeon Power in Dundee,
Scotland as Engineering Design Manager. Over seven years the
design department expanded and the focus of the company
changed from mobile phone batteries to large automotive
batteries. In 2007 I moved into Engineering Sales. In
December 2010 I became Director of Sales focusing mainly on
automotive and large energy storage opportunities. |
Scott Pennock (QNX Software Systems)
Scott Pennock worked at AT&T/Lucent Bell Labs for 10 years, assessing and improving the speech communications performance of telephony terminals and networks. He then worked at OnStar on speech technologies for 5 years. More recently, he worked at Apple in the iPhone group. He joined QNX Software Systems in 2008, where he works as a software developer. Scott Pennock received his Bachelor’s of Science degree from Michigan State University and his Master’s of Science in applied psychology from the Stevens Institute of Technology.

Jack Pokrzywa, (SAE, International, USA)
Jack Pokrzywa is a Director of SAE Ground Vehicle Standards program which consists of over 500 technical committees, 7,800 participating experts and over 2,000 existing standards. He is responsible for the overall performance of the SAE Ground Vehicle Standards support system as well as new business development, international standards harmonization, and liaison with other standards development organizations.
In the international arena, he is US TAG Co-Chairman to ISO TC22 (Road Vehicles), representing the US based auto and truck standardization activities in the ISO TC22 Strategic Planning group.
He is a voting member of the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP) in the US.
Prior to joining SAE International, Pokrzywa was with the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), where he managed various projects for the global OEMs and major automotive suppliers.
Before joining AIAG, Jack held management positions in the US, Germany and the UK with Octal, a Silicon Valley engineering software developer, where he was responsible for initial start-up, daily operation, sales and marketing in Europe. |
Reinhard Scholl (ITU-T)
Reinhard Scholl is Deputy to the Director of the ITU-T Secretariat (TSB) since September 2002. Previously he has been with Siemens in Munich, Germany and with ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute). He received a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Illinois, USA.

David Schutt (Secretary, Chief Executive Officer, Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International)
David Schutt, PhD, is SAE International’s Chief
Executive Officer and is responsible for overseeing SAE
International’s global management and operations. SAE
International is a non-for-profit educational and
scientific organization dedicated to advancing mobility
technology to better serve humanity. Its
128,000—engineers, business executives, educators, and
students from more than 100 countries—develop technical
standards, publish authoritative literature, and share
information and exchange ideas for advancing the
engineering of mobility systems. SAE is the world’s
resource for designing, building, maintaining and
operating self-propelled vehicles for use on land or
sea, in air or space.
Schutt also serves as the President of the Performance
Review Institute, which advances the interests of the
mobility and related industries through development of
performance standards and administration of quality
assurance, accreditation, and certification programs as
well as related activities for the benefit of industry,
government and the public. It provides a full range of
programs and services designed to improve manufacturing
process and product quality by adding value, reducing
total cost and promoting collaboration between global
stakeholders in the mobility and other interested
industries.
Schutt serves on a variety of not-for-profit boards,
national commissions and local organizations. He is Vice
President-America on the International Federation of
Automotive Engineering Societies’ (FISITA) Executive
Board and is a member of the International Union of Pure
and Applied Chemistry Finance Committee. He was
appointed Commissioner, U.S. National Commission for the
United National Education and Cultural Organization
(UNESCO) by the U.S. Secretary of State.
Prior to joining SAE International in 2007, Schutt
worked at the American Chemical Society (ACS) in several
executive management positions.
Schutt holds a doctorate in physical chemistry from
Princeton University and a bachelor’s degree from Calvin
College. He also earned an M.B.A. from Johns Hopkins

G�rard S�garra graduated with a Engineer diploma from the Conservatoire National des Arts et M�tiers (France) and with a Master in mathematics from the university of Paris 6. He joined Renault in 1984 to deploy telecommunication systems. He is currently expert in telematics in Renault Engineering division, representing Renault in C2C-CC Steering Committee and Chairman of ETSI TC ITS WG1 dedicated to ITS applications requirements and services. |
T. Russell Shields (Chair, Ygomi)
T. Russell Shields is founder and Chair of Ygomi LLC. Mr. Shields has a 40-year track record of creating and developing businesses that define new industries, including software engineering, business services, wireless communications, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS). In 2008, he received the Distinguished Alumni Award in the category of Entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. Mr. Shields is a Board Member of the ITS World Congress, a former Officer and founding Board Member of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America), former chair of the Communications Committee of the Transportation Research Board (National Research Council), and Convener of the Working Group developing international standards for wireless communications for ITS (ISO/TC204/WG16). He received the 1998 SAE Delco Electronics Intelligent Transportation Systems Award for distinguished service to the ITS industry, was named an SAE Fellow in 2007, and was inducted into the inaugural class of ITS America’s ITS Hall of Fame in 2008. Mr. Shields holds a BA in mathematics from Wichita State University and two degrees (an MA in history and an MBA) from the University of Chicago. |

Fumihiko “Tom” Tomita is
responsible for the leadership
in future cross-industry ICT
innovation projects in the
Telecommunication Technology
Committee (TTC), and also in the
research strategy in the
National Institute of
Information and Communications
Technology (NICT), Japan. He
received the B.S. degree in
physics and the M.S. and Ph.D.
degree in geophysics from the
Tohoku University of Japan.
After the Assistant Professor at
the Faculty of Science of Tohoku
University, he joined the Radio
Research Laboratory (RRL), the
direct ancestor of NICT. He
launched the “Space Weather
Program” in Japan in 1988, and,
has been supervising many kind

Johannes Tulusan (SAP Research)
Johannes Tulusan received his MSc. in Management and
Information Systems at the London School of Economics,
London, UK. He is currently continuing his Ph.D. in the
field of Electric Vehicles at the University St. Gallen and
ETH Z�rich, Switzerland. Before he was a scholar at
Cambridge University, UK.
At the same time he is working at SAP Research and is
responsible for projects related to Electric Mobility,
Electric Vehicles and Car2Car communication.
Before that, Johannes Tulusan worked at the headquarter of
SAP AG (Germany) for several years as a business development
specialist and advisor for the latest software solutions
(SAP NetWeaver and Service Oriented Architecture) and
advised global corporations. |
Bernadette Villeforceix
(Orange)
Bernadette Villeforceix received the Ph D degree in optical
and microwave communications from the University Of Limoges,
France in may 1981. Working in Orange Labs since this date,
she is a senior R&D Architect currently in charge of
architecture studies on innovative networks in mobility
conditions and on intelligent transport systems, member of
Orange Labs architect’s community.
She is expert in satellite communications and in radio
access networks and senior architect in innovative mobility
networks for transportation. She holds one patent on radio
access technology for the coverage extension of wireless
networks and handover optimization inside this coverage.
She was in charge of technical studies (at physical, MAC and
network layers) for the design and development of the
internet access solution currently deployed in SNCF high
speed trains TGVs. Responsible for France Telecom in DVB
standardization bodies, she was involved in several field
trials demonstrating services supported by broadcast and
unicast access networks (DVB RCS, DVB S2 and DVB SH).
Her current research interest include cooperative systems
for ITS V2V and V2I vehicular communications and network
mobility architectures allowing multiple radio access and
QoS management in a mobile router. She is in charge of
architecture studies in the frame of vehicular networks to
design and develop the new interfaces and protocols enabling
the mobile router enhancements to fit with ITS cooperative
networks requirements. |
J�rgen Weyer (Vice President Automotive Sales EMEA, Freescale Semiconductors)
Juergen Weyer is Vice President of the EMEA region for
Automotive.
Juergen joined the company in 1980 as a product marketing
engineer for logic ICs. Since that time, he has held
positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of
marketing, operations and sales. From 1987 to 1992, Juergen
was the product marketing manager for ASICs. In 1992, he
relocated to Toulouse as operations manager, MOS Digital
Analog Division (MDAD). During this time, he also managed
the Wireless Operation with the Communications and Advanced
Consumer Technologies Group (CACTG), moving on to become
operations manager for Global Systems for Mobile
Communications (GSM) within the Wireless Subscriber Systems
Group. He returned to Munich in May 1998 to take the
position of director of global sales for the Transportation
Systems Group EMEA/Asia-Pac.
A native of Germany, Juergen studied electronics at the
Fachhochschule Coburg. After completing his degree, he
joined Motorola (now Freescale Semiconductor). |

Andreas E. Zielke (Director, Global Practice Leader Automotive & Assembly Practice, McKinsey & Company)
Dr. Andreas E. Zielke is a Director in McKinsey's Berlin
office. He leads the global Automotive & Assembly industry
group. In his 23 years with the Firm his work for automotive
companies has covered both strategy and operations
extensively in about 200 studies for more than 40 automotive
clients throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. He
oversees McKinsey’s knowledge development in the automotive
space including the impact of new technologies, particularly
in the areas of alternative drivetrains and connectivity.
