CVs of the speakers
Mr. Paolo Rosa received his degree in physics in 1974 and joined the Italian P.T. Ministry the same year, working on the
development of optical fiber communications and systems.
He participated in national and international organizations for standardization and research such as IEC, CCITT (now ITU),
ETSI, CECC, COST etc.
He became Head of the Optical Fiber Dept. of Istituto Superiore PT in 1981 for studies, standards and projects of optical
systems. He was responsible of the ISPT Quality Assurance team for the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning
of international submarine systems.
He acted as coordinator of the Italian P.T. Ministry and representative to the European Commission for the G7 projects on
the Information Society and participated, as expert and senior advisor, for projects of the Italian Foreign Office, UNDP
and ITU in various developing countries.
In 1997 he joined ITU-T secretariat in Geneva as Counselor responsible for Study Groups 6 (Outside plants) and SG 15
(Transport networks, systems and equipment), working on worldwide standardization and ITU-T Recommendations.
He is author and co-author of several papers published in international technical magazines, speaker and lecturer in
conferences, seminars and workshops in the field of optical fibers, optical communication and access networks.
