Geneva,
Switzerland, Room XI, ILO Headquarters, 14 May 2012, 14h45-18h00
Background
The first session provided an
overview of the Partnerships work on measuring the WSIS targets in the
context of the WSIS+10 review process. It presented concrete examples
of progress made towards monitoring the targets and highlighted the data
gaps that still need to be addressed. Besides presentations by
international and regional stakeholders, the session featured the
national experience of a country (Mexico) that is tracking the WSIS targets.
Finally, the Partnership presented a roadmap for the WSIS+10 review
process.
The second session focused on the
measurement of e-waste. It looked at the importance of having
comprehensive data on the life-cycle and disposal of e-waste, which so
far are not available at the global level. The panelists discussed the
challenges in developing indicators related to measuring e-waste, and
the compilation of reliable data at the national level.
