ITU Regional Forum on Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting
Services in the Arab Region, on the 17th and 18 (Half day) May 2014.
This Forum aims to discuss the main topics related to the transition
from the analogue to the digital terrestrial television broadcasting
and the need for the regional coordination and cooperation in that
regard; as well it will discuss the challenges related to the
digital transition in the Arab region, including the cost of the
transition, the interoperability and the digital dividend. The Forum
will also address the technical standards, the frequency planning
and coordination and the spectrum sharing.
The First Arab
Coordination Meeting of the GE06 frequency Plan for the Digital
Terrestrial Television Broadcasting , Dubai, from 18 (afternoon) to
20 May 2014
The coordination meeting is intended to coordinate the transition to
digital TV and initiate frequency coordination between the ASMG
administrations, with a view to facilitating harmonization and use
of the digital dividend spectrum.
This event will give emphasis to regulatory issues and practical
cases on spectrum issues within the context of transition to digital
and digital dividend. The frequency coordination meeting will focus
on re-evaluating the frequency plan adopted by the ITU Regional
Radiocommunication Conference in 2006 (GE06 Plan) for terrestrial
television broadcasting in the band 470-862 MHz and necessary
consequential actions.
The participation in these events is open to all relevant
stakeholders (governments, regulators, broadcasters, mobile
operators, etc…). The presence of national coordinators for the
transition to digital broadcasting and the digital dividend is
highly recommended during the Forum. The frequency coordination
meeting is primarily intended for experts in the domain of
broadcasting frequency planning and the presence of experts having
participated in the Regional Radiocommunication Conference of 2006
(RRC-06) is highly recommended |
