National Implementation of the Financial Inclusion Global Initiative (FIGI) - Egypt

The objective of this project is to strengthen Digital Financial Services (DFS) and Digital Financial Inclusion (DFI) to harness the potential of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) as a catalyst for the country’s development, leveraging ICTs and the potential of innovation and new technologies to promote DFS and DFI to the financially excluded, while promoting sustainability and working toward the goal of Universal Financial Access by 2020. In particular, the project will have the following components: Assessment of telecommunication/ICT ecosystem for DFS growth and DFI in Egypt; Research reports, advisory services and guidelines; and developing a roadmap for DFS/DFI in Egypt for a financial inclusion ICT enabling eco system in the Egyptian National Postal Authority (ENPA).
