Title | Regional E-waste Monitor for the Arab Region | |
Description |
E-waste constitutes one of the fastest growing streams of physical waste in today’s global environment and a threat to sustainable development. Data on e-waste is required to evaluate developments over time, elaborate national and international policies and to limit e-waste generation, prevent illegal dumping, promote recycling, and to create jobs in the recycling sectors. However, only a very limited number of countries collect internationally comparable e-waste statistics and many countries lack the capacity to collect e-waste data at the national level. Within the implementation of the expected results of the ITU Arab Regional Initiative on Environment, climate change and emergency telecommunications and in the framework of the Global E-waste Statistics Partnership, this regional project to produce the E-waste Monitor for Arab Region will be implemented |
