Summary:
|
5G mobile network has been rapidly increasing in Republic of Korea, penetrating 30million subscribers as of May 2023. And GSMA predicts globally it can connect 27.14% global subscribers, reaching 14.33% market penetration by 2025. Meanwhile the 5G NR base station uses “beam-forming” technology to form sharp beams with many array antennas. However, little attention has been given to shape a new EMF evaluation method of determining human exposure from EMF that can be applied to this technology at 5G services because it is very difficult and inaccurate to evaluate the human body exposure in vicinity of 5G NR base station. To overcome these limitations, Republic of Korea is studying the new EMF evaluation method for 5G NR base station using AI (artificial intelligence), and would like to propose the new evaluation method to ITU-T SG5.
When this new EMF evaluation method is completed, the technology will be applied to the “Compliance Test” of 5G NR base station, and will also provide a public information for the human body exposure in vicinity of 5G NR base station.
